I’ll be headed to the BlogHer 12 Conference in New York City in just 4 more sleeps so I’m busy with final organization preparations.
I’ve decided to keep my most detailed plans in Microsoft OneNote because all of the devices I’m taking with me (iPad, iPhone, and Windows Phone) have OneNote apps so I’ll be able to access my information, maps, and contact numbers easily.
I used the Microsoft OneNote Web app (I’m currently using the Office Preview edition) to add everything from train ticket information, hotel confirmation, as well as my daily schedules. I also added copies of any ticket confirmations I have for events and parties. I used Jing to take screen captures of my confirmation information and inserted the images into my OneNote pages.
I’m using a simple 3 column table to keep track of where I’ll be and when. I still need to add room locations, but those aren’t available yet.
Going over my schedule like this is really helpful because it lets me see where I have breaks in time when I could do something else, and also where I might want to plan a break because I have potentially scheduled myself too much!
OneNote looks fantastic in the iPad app:
And nice on my Windows Phone 7 phone too:
I’m not thrilled with how the table I used looks on the phone though…
I know that tables don’t always look great in different devices / browsers (one of the reasons I don’t use them for website layout), but I thought it would look ok on the phone. I’m pretty sure I’ll use this primarily in the OneNote app though, so that’s ok.
In addition to using Microsoft OneNote, I’m also using a few apps, as well as Microsoft Outlook, to organize my BlogHer12 schedule and I”ll talk about that in a future post this week!
